A group of architects, engineers and constructors have started to think (and design) how to convert the Empire State into a modern and sustainable building. The initiative is led by a original person, Amory Lovins, co-founder of the “Rocky Mountain Institute” in 1982.It is a powerful demonstration of how we can improve existing buildings nd turn it into a symbol thanks to new technologies. Americans are like that! This will be a key moment in the work of rehabilitation of old buildings. It is certainly more interesting than designing futuristic solutions for new skyscrapers in NY. Until now, 40% of the energy is lost in the daily use of the buildings. This project will cost 13 millions dollars, but it will reduce the energy consumption by 38% (which means 4,4 millions dollars each year)
